The Bible is an inexhaustible and authoritative resource provided to humankind through the infinite and unsearchable wisdom of God – it is the written Word. The Scriptures reveal the character of God and the mysteries of His grace; all fundamental doctrine and principles of Christianity come from this source. The Bible was written by humans under the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit; it contains books of the law, history, wisdom, prophecies, gospels, and epistles. The Bible details God’s intricate plan for humanity’s salvation.
Believers must study the Bible, instead of merely reading: “Blessed is the man…whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night” (Psalms 1:1-2 NIV). Studying the Bible deepens our understanding of the text; it provides insight into the contexts of the Bible. It is imperative that individuals study the Word of God; it edifies, strengthens, clarifies, and sanctifies the spirit. The Scripture renews and regenerates: “For you have been born again…through the living and enduring word of God” (1 Peter 1:23 NIV).
